Hell's Kitchen

Aspiring young chefs are put to the ultimate challenge in Hell's Kitchen, a reality television competition starring world renowned chef Gordon Ramsay. Each of these chefs dreams of fame and fortune, but many soon find their dreams becoming nightmares. Chef Ramsay demands quality and the intensity of the challenges is beyond anything the contestants can ever imagine. Split into two teams, they must compete against each other to provide their very best in the kitchen. If they do, they are lavishly rewarded with everything from extravagant trips to a ride on Ramsay's personal yacht.


Those that fail are forced to suffer humiliating punishment.At the end of each episode, the chef who provided the best performance in Ramsay's opinion on the losing team is chosen to select two chefs from their own team for elimination. They must then give their reasons for their selection. Though one of these two chefs may be eliminated, Ramsay is under no obligation to choose either, and the final decision as to who is sent home is made solely by him.From Waffle House chefs to executive chefs, the competitors are tested in every way possible, from leadership skills to culinary skills. Traditional challenges include a taste-test of everyone's palette and special events such as birthdays and weddings. The chefs, however, must always be on their toes, as they never know when surprises may be coming.


Hell's Kitchen is currently airing its newest season, the fifth, on FOX! Catch the program in it's new time slot, at 9 P.M. on FOX. In this, the fifth season, contestants are competing for the position of head chef at a restaurant in the Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa-- one being built specifically for the winner. This season's crop features what executive producer Kent Weed promises to be "the best chefs we've ever assembled," with everything from a cooking-school instructor to a food-court chicken fryer. There will be many contenders, but many dramatic twists as well.Watch for the sixth season of the program as well, beginning on July 21 with a two-hour premiere and airing Tuesdays at 8 P.M. on FOX!

DNR to hold public information meeting on Round Lake

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will hold a public information meeting on a proposal to formally designate Round Lake in Murray County as a wildlife lake. The meeting will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 7, at Murray County Central School, 2420 28th St., Slayton, Minn.
Located 12 miles north and two miles east of Slayton, Round Lake is a 162-acre shallow basin with a history of excellent migratory waterfowl use. At present, however, the lake is in a condition typical of many shallow lakes in southwestern Minnesota with poor water quality caused by excessive nutrients and abundant rough fish.
Designating Round Lake as a wildlife lake would give DNR authority to conduct periodic drawdowns by way of two proposed water control structures on the lake. A drawdown can improve waterfowl, wildlife and water quality conditions by stimulating critical aquatic plant growth and promoting a rough fish die-off.
A fish barrier is also proposed to prevent fish from re-entering the lake. DNR contracted with Ducks Unlimited for a study to help determine effective management actions.

Travis Tedford

Travis William Tedford (born August 19, 1988) is an American actor.
Travis was born in Rockwall, Texas to Timmy Bill Tedford and Paula Kay Dixon. Most popular as a child actor during the 1990s, he is best known for appearing in Welch's television commercials and for portraying Our Gang kid (and fellow Texan) Spanky McFarland in the 1994 feature film The Little Rascals. Travis currently resides in Garland, Texas, and graduated from Athens High School in 2006. He graduated Trinity Valley Community College in 2008 with an Associates degree in Liberal Arts.

Malin Akerman: Look of the day

Malin Akerman recently attended the premiere of her new comic book movie version watchmen at the Odeon, Leicester Square, London. Malin was wearing a beautiful black flowing gown. The gown was a transparent gown with black studs. She left her silky, smooth blonde hair open with a middle parting and making her look stunning and gorgeous. The bright blue eyes framed with black eye liner and the cherry lips made her face look flawless.







Thelayered gown had black satin hemlines adding grace to Malin’s beauty. Malin in one of her interviews had said that in her new venture Watchmen she had to wear a skin tight outfit which was not at all comfortable and when she used to get out of it the apparel used to stink like a human condom. The apparel was damn hot and uncomfortable. But nevertheless we wish Malin all the success in return of her hard work.

'NCIS' eliminates the love triangle

We’ve reached the penultimate “NCIS” for the season, and it’s becoming progressively worse for the DiNozzo/Ziva dynamic. They might play nice in public, but it’s anyone’s guess how this’ll play out by season’s end.The Spoilers wish Jamie Murray could stay on in a recurring role as a love interest for McGee.
So what happens when you get together high-profile government type for a late-night “poker game?” In the Bartlet White House, it’s an AA meeting; for the leaders of the Alphabet Soup, it’s a strategic meeting on how best to utilize Director Vance. Problem is, someone caught wise that nary a hand was being played, and it cost an ICE agent his life. Ducky arrives to conclude the agent was strangled, and in the ensuing fight for his life, knocked a listening device from the window. The sexy agent in charge of security at the SecNav’s house (Lila from Dexter) is so upset she let everyone down that she smashes the bug into a million little pieces.
Abby is rather upset at Agent Julia Foster-Yates for destroying the bug… among other things. Meanwhile, the rift between Ziva and DiNozzo is growing by the minute, especially when the latter suspects (correctly) that he’s yet to rid himself of the Rivkin problem. As it stands, the only thing he isn’t tied to is the murder of the ICE agent… at least not initially. Once Gibbs and FBI Agent Fornell find out the true meaning of the poker game, they learn of the newest lead suspect: Abin Tabal, who just happens to be connected to the whole West Coast mess that left Callen in critical condition. Since Ducky determines the attack on the agent wasn’t meant to be lethal, they know there’s a bigger conspiracy afoot.
Gibbs is mad as hell for being left out of the loop, and initially directs his anger at Agent Foster-Yates. McGee saves her by suggesting she help analyze surveillance video. On said video is a car casing the joint… driven by none other than Vance, who just wanted in on the reindeer games (which everyone presumes he’s excluded because he wiped the floor clean in the last game.)
Back to Ziva and DiNozzo: she hastily leaves to meet with Rivkin, a fact DiNozzo picks up on after translating part of her conversation. His master plan is to get Ziva to leave the lunch (which she does) and return to NCIS so he can slip in and even more forcefully demand Rivkin take the red-eye back to Israel. Naturally, he doesn’t comply.

As for DiNozzo, he’s rather distracted by the whole “Ziva/Rivkin” thing that when Gibbs tries to throw Rule 11 his way, he mistakes Rule 12 instead. Sensing the drama has to end immediately, he drives over to Ziva’s, only to find Rivkin by himself. After one final ultimatum, DiNozzo goes to place Rivkin under arrest. What happens next is a most epic struggle. Rivkin initially has the upper hand, though DiNozzo smashed him into enough glass to have a shard go through his enemy’s side. All seems lost for Rivkin, except he makes one final lunge (glass in hand) towards DiNozzo, who has no choice but to shoot him multiple times… just as Ziva busts through the door!
Speaking of jealous, Abby simply cannot stand the way McGee and Agent Lila are working together. Sensing she’s not wanted there, Lila makes her way into another tense stand-off when Ziva and DiNozzo return to NCIS. To make matters worse, Gibbs and Fornell lead down the path to accusing her of the murder. And to think, she’s actually trying to play nice, unlike what she did with Dexter Morgan!
Abby finally links the bug to Abin, but all Gibbs, Fornell and Agent Lila find when they get there is a dead man who ingested a cyanide pill. With a wiped hard drive, all other signs point to Abin being the man all along, so the case is closed and Agent Lila takes her leave.
Secretary Davenport makes a cameo appearance in Gibbs’ basement to, among other things, present the gunnery sergeant with a fine bottle of whiskey. Gibbs takes the opportunity to hand over the file on Vance, but the good Secretary decides to do what Leroy couldn’t/wouldn’t do after all this time: open and read it. To Davenport’s slight disappointment, most of the file is censored, though he’s certain it wouldn’t present the “whole picture” anyway. It seems Vance is to become the point man in a major operation against the Israelis.

Bears, Pens Game 7 looms

Hershey Bears goaltender Michal Neuvirth gives the thumbs-up sign after being named the Star of the Game with a 30-save, 3-0 win over the Penguins Sunday night.

From the looks of Tuesday's morning skate, the Hershey Bears will stick with their Game 6 lineup for Game 7 of the East Division finals against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7 tonight at the Giant Center.
Defenseman Karl Alzner and winger Grant McNeill remained out with unspecified injuries. And defenseman Tyler Sloan, who didn't play for Washington in Game 6 of the Pittsburgh series Monday night, did not suddenly materialize in Hershey.

Explosions and Fire at Chemical Plant

Fire broke out at Columbus Chemical Industries Monday night and caused the evacuation of nearby Columbus residents while firefighters battled the blaze.
Dodge County authorities used an emergency notification system to call other residents in the Columbus and Beaver Dam areas and tell them to stay inside and keep their windows closed because of smoke from the fire.
A series of explosions was reported along with the fire, which broke out shortly after 8 p.m. Monday.
No serious injuries were reported, although two firefighters were being checked at a local hospital.
An emergency shelter was set up at Columbus Senior Center. About 20 people, some in pajamas, were in line to check in at the shelter by around 10 p.m.
Jim Neuman, who lives a block from the plant, said he smelled burning plastic around 7:30 p.m. and soon heard four explosions. He said he heard more blasts after the first fire trucks arrived on the scene.
"The fire trucks had just arrived and then they had an explosion. There was some force there," he said.
Nearby resident John Edwards, a part-time worker at the plant, said it has a lot of flammable material.
Things seemed normal as he left work around 4 p.m., he said, but the explosions later "sounded like thunder, a long clap of thunder."
According to the company Web site, Columbus Chemical Industries manufactures high purity acids and salts, analytical and production solutions for the pharmaceutical, semi-conductor and electronics industries, among others. These can be terrible misery.

Misery

Famed novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) has just finished his latest novel. As he departs from Silver Creek,Colorado, he drives in the middle of a blizzard and his car goes off the road. He is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) and brought back to her home where she tends to his injuries.
She claims she is his number one fan, and goes on and on about how she cherishes the novels involving the character, Misery Chastaine. At first, Annie seems to be a very kind nurse with a very happy-go-lucky personality but it becomes clear to Paul that she is psychotic. When she is feeding him and reading his new book she disagrees with the profanity; she loses control, spilling some soup on him, but regains control and humbly apologizes for her actions.
She then gets a copy of Paul's already published book entitled, Misery's Child the latest Misery novel and the last, as Paul has decided to go on writing other stories, including the one he has already finished. After he has killed Misery in this story, Annie goes into a rage, almost killing Paul. She claims that she never contacted the hospital or anyone Paul knows. Annie then leaves and Paul decides to escape his room but she has locked the door making it impossible for him to escape. Annie comes to him the following morning and makes him burn his latest novel. She makes him write another Misery novel entitled Misery's Return where he somehow brings the character back to life. As Annie is setting up the equipment, Paul spots a hairpin on the floor. Thinking it will allow him to unlock his door, he sends Annie into town to get him the right kind of paper. While she is away, Paul unlocks his door and tries to call the police but finds out Annie has a fake telephone. He finds a number of Novril pills and takes some, planning to drug her.
As Paul has satisfied Annie with his work on bringing Misery back to life, he asks her if she will have dinner with him; she happily accepts. As they dine, Paul makes Annie get a candle and unsuccessfully drugs her wine. Paul is now clueless as to what to do but continues writing the book.
Meanwhile, local Sheriff Buster (Richard Farnsworth) has been investigating the disappearance of Paul Sheldon. After some careful investigating, he thinks Paul was kidnapped after finding his car and the marks on his door. One night, Annie comes to give Paul his medicine and has a gun with her thinking she might use it. As Annie leaves in the night, Paul decides to get a butcher knife from the kitchen to defend himself. He spots Annie's scrapbook and finds a bunch of articles about her, one in particular was where Annie was head maternity nurse and was on trial for infanticide and was also responsible for other deaths as well but was acquitted. In the middle of the night, Annie drugs Paul and the following morning, ties him up and tells him that she knows he's left his room in her absence and found out he planned to kill her. She then puts a board across his ankles and breaks them with a sledgehammer.
As Buster continues his investigation, he comes across an article with Annie in it and reads a passage quoted by one of the Misery novels, making it clear to him that Annie is involved in Paul's disappearance. As he goes to pay her a visit, Annie drugs Paul and hides him in the basement. As Buster leaves, Paul regains consciousness and tries to get Buster's attention. He finds Paul in the basement but is shot by Annie. Annie decides to end both their lives, but Paul manages to talk Annie out of it by convincing her to let him finish the book. He then takes some lighter fluid planning to set the book on fire.

The Spy Who Loved Me

During the Cold War, spies were all the rage. There was James Bond, The Man From Uncle, and Maxwell Smart. There was Emma Peel, Agent 99, and Jethro, the Double-Naught Spy, but, most notorious of all, was XLo05. Ava and I had a slightly dysfunctional, somewhat unpredictable, magically creative childhood. The magically creative parts were due to one lovely, irreverent crazy woman we fondly call "Mother." Other mothers in the '60's, were known as "Mama" or "Mom," but our grandfather insisted that we address her by the very formal "Mother." There was little else formal about her, except, perhaps, her manners. Almost all of her other appellations, suited her better. There was "Pot," (a nickname given her by her sorority sisters in college, mysterious because it was a decade too early to have today's connotation). Then, there was the affectionate "Nan-nan," a name I invented as a toddler, attempting to pronounce her real name, Katherine Ann. This was also the name her grandchildren would be allowed to call her, since my grandfather wasn't around to encourage the use of the very proper title "Grandmother." To her high school students, she was "Flash Gordon," the hip, five-time Star Teacher of Shakespeare, Bob Dylan, romantic poetry and American transcendentalism, yearbook sponsor, Scholastic Bowl coach, and stage director of high school theater and beauty pageants.But to Ava and me, behind closed doors, she was.....XLo05!

On muggy summer afternoons, when it got too hot to read or decoupage purses in the carport or even run through the sprinkler, she would beckon us into her bedroom, turn on her window unit, shut the door, and dole out a strange blue candy we'd never before seen. The candy looked like Jolly Ranchers, but Jolly Ranchers didn't come in that color. No matter how we begged, she refused to tell us where she bought them. She remained enigmatic on that subject, and, with a barely straight face, she informed us we didn't have proper clearance. She would divulge the name of the candy, however: XLo05. In the murky underwater dimness of her bedroom, we whispered and giggled and gossiped. She told us stories of secret missions and dangerous feats in which we were the heroes; alter egos for the all of us were born; we were intrepid spies of international fame and fortune. On those afternoons, she was quite a different person, nothing at all like the other mothers we knew, who played Bridge and attended Junior Auxiliary meetings. She was a co-conspirator of silliness, a collaborator of folly, a spinner of tales of mischief and adventure. Behind her closed door, in the the damp frigid air of her bedroom, she created a secret triumvirate of superheroes. She instructed us in the martial arts of spreading magic and mirth throughout the universe. She gave us the armor of laughter and imagination. She made us believe we could do anything. We were undefeatable.

Twitter down. Friendfeed down. Where did you go?

Twitter went down today, this time round it was scheduled and the plan was to be back up and running an hour later. Sure enough, Twitter was up an hour later but down a few moments after and still is at the time of writing.
Friendfeed, my usual first choice, but most peoples Twitter alternative then decided to go down and quite possibly the most inappropriate time. MG Siegler over at TechCrunch discovered via Friendfeed co-founder Bret Taylor that the site has lose contact with its data center.
The question is, what are the serious alternatives for all the tech heads out there? Facebook is one I suppose, but just never attracts me unless I’m looking to catch up with offline friends. Plurk is another alternative but sadly people seem to have abandoned the site. Identi.ca? Flickr I guess? What ever happened to Virb?

Pam Dawber on Mork and Mindy Nude?

Pam Dawber can be considered as the old days’ Lois Lane. She stars as ‘Mindy McConnell’ from the classic TV show Mork and Mindy alongside Robin Williams. Some of the catchy phrases used is “Nanu, Nanu”. I have always enjoyed watching MORK and MINDY with my sister when I was small. I even got my mom to get me a suit similar to that worn by Mork. This was before I was introduced to Superman. . I guess that’s why they are having a marathon of this series on Tuesday night at 8 am (In The U.S.). They will also be remaking the classic series into a full-fledged movie. Some say Pam Dawber will be baring herself in the movie, but I just doubt it! Is she a real MILF?

Weather permitting, NASA plans to launch a Minotaur I rocket tonight sometime between 8:00 pm and 11:00 pm from their Wallops Island facility on the Virginia coast.
The chief goal of this flight is to place the 880-pound TacSat-3 satellite with its trio of payloads that will offer real-time imagery (within 10-minutes of collection), sea-based information transmitted from ocean buoys and plug-and-play avionics to assist warfighters in keeping one step ahead of their adversaries. In addition, three “cubesats” will be launched as secondary payloads on the TacSat-3 mission.
If the rocket blasts off on schedule, this will be only the 3rd time in the last 13-1/2 years that NASA will have used this coastal Virginia range.
Based on a very similar launch from Wallops Island in December 2006 and similar dusk and dawn launches from Vandenberg as a guide, it’s possible that today’s post-sunset launch may be visible as far north as southern Maine, as far south as northeastern Florida and as far west as eastern Kentucky.

Chanel: World’s Oldest Dog (20)

Meet Chanel the world’s oldest dog. Chanel is 20 years old and was named the oldest dog by Guinness World Records last year, and is capturing the heart of many after her appearance on the Today Show this morning.

Chanel is the world’s oldest dog and a celebrity in her own right. She was born in 1988 and will soon be celebrating her 21’s birthday. In dog years that makes her about 147. Her once red hair has turned white, and she needs special doggie glasses for her cataracts. She eats a special diet of boiled chicken, whole wheat pasta, and a special doggie treat for her teeth. She still goes on walks during the summer with her owner’s Karl and Denise Shaughnessy, but is carried for most of the way. Long gone are the days where she used to run three miles to keep her figure.

First U.S. Face Transplant Patient Appears To Thank Doctors

Tuesday as the United States’ first-ever face transplant patient Connie Culp identity and how she came to be disfigured were a secret. Culp’s husband, Thomas, shot her in 2004, then turned the gun on himself but survived. He went to prison for seven years according to reports. Connie made her in progress debut to thank the doctors who performed 23 hours of surgery five months ago, to repair damage from the devastating shotgun blast that left her disfigured (center photo) without a nose, lower eyelids, upper jaw, palate and other features, and unable to eat or breathe on her own.“Well, I guess I’m the one you came to see today,” the Ohio woman said at a press conference at the Cleveland Clinic, the scene of her surgery. “While I know you all want to focus on me, I think it’s more important you focus on the donor family that made it so I could have this Christmas present, I guess I should say.”
At a news briefing the team of eight doctors that performed the operation reported that the surgery will enable her to drink from a cup, eat solid food, smell and breathe through her nose. The surgeons removed most of the face of a deceased donor and placed it onto Ms. Culp like a mask, incorporating portions of her own visage. About 80% of the patient’s face was replaced.
Culp’s expressions are still a bit wooden, but she can talk, though her speech is at times a little hard to understand.

Ray’s Hell Burger in Arlington, Va is located on Wilson Blvd. and serves quite a burger we are told.

The owner of Ray’s Hell Burger, Michael Landrum, was asked what Obama ordered and he replied, “A cheeseburger. That’s all we have.” (So nobody cares what Biden ordered - oh, maybe some shoe leather. We hear he’s quite fond of that.)
Not that we think where Obama eats lunch is all that interesting, but the name Ray’s Hell Burger is just plain old funny.

Jon and Kate Plus 8 scandal could lead to divorce

Jon and Kate Gosselin from the TLC reality show Jon and Kate Plus 8 may be heading for a divorce court due to a cheating scandal.
The scandal was sparked by a Us Weekly story earlier this week that claimed Jon was caught leaving a club at 2 am with another woman. According to other reports, in February several students at Juanita College rebuffed Jon’s advances even though he reportedly told them “he was getting divorced.”
There’s no official word from Kate yet, and Jon is denying an affair, saying only that he was at the club with “a friend” who just happened to be female. Yeah, because it’s normal for married men to party with other women at nightclubs into the early hours

Deep Blue Sea

The team consists of Dr. Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows), the scientist behind the experiment who decided to begin finding a cure after seeing her father suffer from Alzheimer's; Jim Whitlock (Stellan Skarsgård); Dr. Janice Higgins (Jacqueline McKenzie); Carter Blake (Thomas Jane), a shark wrangler; Tom Scoggins (Michael Rapaport), an engineer; Sherman "Preacher" Dudley (LL Cool J), a religious, wise-cracking cook; and Brenda Kerns (Aida Turturro), the communications specialist.
Despite Carter's warnings, McAlester violates the code of ethics and creates three genetically engineered mako sharks. Her intent is to increase their brain capacity so the scientists can harvest tissue as a cure for Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, the increased brain capacity also makes the sharks smarter, faster and more aggressive--as well as growing to the size of great white sharks, gaining increased memory, and being able to swim backwards. Aquatica's financial backers are skeptical about the tests and send corporate executive Russell Franklin (Samuel L. Jackson) to visit the facility.
In order to prove that the research is worth it, the team schedules a test to remove brain fluid bearing the protein complex from the largest shark. After removing the tissue, they rejoice as it brings test cells back temporarily. However, after the test, the shark breaks free and bites off Whitlock's arm. Blake tries to shoot it, but McAlester saves it by pressing the release button, sending it back to the holding pen. An emergency request is made for paramedics, while the team gets Whitlock to the surface.
The medical helicopter arrives and they manage to get Whitlock attached to the winch cable, despite a severe storm. However, the cable motor fails and Whitlock is dropped into the water. The shark which McAlester earlier saved grabs the cable and drags the helicopter into the communications tower, resulting in a massive explosion that kills Kerns and both pilots, and destroys the "surface level" (the facility's level above water,) stranding the surviving crew beneath. Back in the lab, Carter attempts to make contact with the tower but cannot get through. The large window facing the holding pen shows an object growing closer; the largest shark uses Whitlock's transport stretcher as a ram, crashing it into the glass window which then breaks, releasing a massive flow of water into the facility. Whitlock is killed and McAlester and the others escape the wet lab.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, which is now partly submerged, one of the sharks enters and attacks Preacher, eating his pet bird; Preacher climbs into the oven. Through constant ramming, the shark activates one of its controls, releasing gas into the oven. Preacher, determined to survive and avenge his pet bird's death, escapes the oven using an axe and swims to the exit before throwing a lighter, igniting the gas and killing the shark in a fiery explosion.
The scientists descend to the bottom level from which they planned to take a submarine to the surface, but find the room and sub destroyed. Scoggins and McAlester begin to argue when Franklin silences them before giving a speech about how the group will have to pull themselves together to find a way out. Unexpectedly, a shark leaps out from a pool behind him and bites him; the two remaining sharks then devour him by ripping him into two pieces. The team makes way to the elevator shaft and starts to climb up. Carter attempts to open the door to Level 2 to drain off the water, but before he can, a shark rams through the door and the elevator shaft begins to flood. An explosion causes a part of the ladder to fall backwards. Higgins falls into the water and is killed by the shark. All hope seems to be lost for the rest of the gang until Preacher, having survived the explosion that killed the first shark, shows up alive. While taking refuge in Preacher's cubby, Preacher tells them that a stairwell in Level 1 has been flooded, blocking their way to the surface.
Realizing that Preacher is right, Blake and Scoggins go down into the water and activate bilge pumps to drain the stairwell so they can get to the surface. Scoggins reaches the controls and manages to turn the pumps on, but the third shark appears and tears him in half. While killing Scoggins, the shark also destroys the controls, leaving Blake to swim back to Preacher's cubby unable to get the pumps to drain the stairwell, much to his dismay. Meanwhile, despite Preacher's warnings, McAlester goes to her living quarters to get the files from the experiment. The second shark attacks her, but she manages to get on a shelf and breaks an electric wire; she throws the cable into the shark's mouth, electrocuting and killing it but also destroying the research, much to McAlester's dismay.
Only Preacher, McAlester and Carter are left, discovering that the sharks have not just been trying to kill them, but were actually leading them to flooding the facility (sinking it and the titanium fences surrounding it) so they could escape into the open sea. The three swim to the surface and Preacher is grabbed by the third shark on the leg. He stabs it in the eye with his crucifix necklace and gets free, swimming back alive to the tower with Carter's help. After tending Preacher's injured leg with a first-aid kit, Carter and McAlester then see the shark ramming the gates which had previously been above the water. Carter realizes that the gates had been titanium under the water, but the parts that had been above the ocean are only common steel.
Carter decides that the mutant shark is too dangerous to be allowed to roam free and must be killed before it breaks through the fence. Carter combines explosive powder from flares with a harpoon, which is attached to a steel cable. He plans to fire the harpoon into the shark and then ignite the powder by having McAlester connect the other end of the cable to a battery. However, the shark is already too far away to hit and McAlester decides to use herself as bait. She cuts her hand to tempt the shark with her blood and jumps into the water. She attempts to escape up a ladder but the handle breaks off and she is ripped in half by the shark.
Carter jumps into the water in a failed attempt to rescue her and is attacked by the shark, but manages to hang onto its dorsal fin. All hope seems to be lost for Carter until Preacher picks up the harpoon (despite having difficulty moving with his injured leg) and fires at the shark, impaling its dorsal fin along with Carter's leg. The shark rams the gate again and manages to escape. But as Carter is pulled free while the shark rams the gate at the last minute, Preacher connects the battery, resulting in a massive explosion that blows the shark to bits. Carter manages to survive the explosion, but is now left with an injured leg. Carter and Preacher, having survived and finished their task of killing the sharks, enjoy a brief and uneasy respite as they wait to be picked up by an approaching boat.

Jeremy Horn

Jeremy "Gumby" Horn (born August 25, 1975 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an American mixed martial arts fighter. He is one of the most experienced fighters in the sport with a professional record of 80-19-5.His early martial arts training was under Robert Bussey's Warrior International founder, Robert Bussey. Horn earned a RBWI black belt under Bussey in 1992, and spent most of his career with the Miletich Fighting Systems team in Iowa, and is currently training in Salt Lake City, Utah with Elite Performance, the team that he created.
Horn's notable victories include Gilbert Yvel, Forrest Griffin, Dean Lister, David Loiseau, Travis Fulton and Chuck Liddell. He also fought to a draw against UFC Hall Of Famer Dan Severn at Extreme Challenge 7 in 1997.
Horn defeated the eventual light heavyweight champion and UFC star Liddell by submission at UFC 19. Liddell later avenged his loss to Horn at UFC 54 in the fourth round, when the fight was stopped after Horn told the referee he could no longer see.
At a September 9, 2006 International Fight League show Horn lost to Matt Lindland in the second round, due to strikes. After the fight Horn announced that he would be taking a break from fighting. He returned from this break when he beat Falaniko Vitale by Split Decision at the IFL Oakland Show.
Horn openly discusses how he often likes to fight more than he likes to win. Although technically very talented, he feels he often lacks the motivation and focus to perform at his best.
After his second victory over Frank Trigg, Matt Hughes credited Jeremy Horn for teaching him most of what he knows about submissions.
He recently fought his 100th MMA fight, losing to Jorge Santiago by way of a triangle choke at 3:02 of the 1st round.
On January 9, 2008, it was announced by the UFC that Horn would replace Thales Leites in a fight against Nate Marquardt at UFC 81. This was the first time that Horn has fought in the UFC in over a year. Horn lost to Nate Marquardt in the second round by a standing guillotine choke.
His last fight, against Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ace Rousimar Palhares at UFC 93 in Dublin, Ireland ended in a loss by unanimous decision.
